Teaching the Prophets of Islam to Kids: A 4-Week Curriculum

One of the most powerful ways to nurture a child’s faith is through the stories of the Prophets. From their patience to their bravery, the Prophets of Islam model the values we want our children to carry into their lives. By learning their stories, children build a strong connection to Allah and a confident Muslim identity.

But many parents and teachers ask: How can we teach these stories in a way that children will truly remember?

That’s why we’ve designed our simple Prophets curriculum – a structured, hands-on 4-week plan that introduces young children to the Prophets of Islam in a way that is simple, engaging, and deeply meaningful.

Why Teach the Prophets of Islam at an Early Age?

  • Faith connection: Children learn that the Prophets were sent by Allah to guide us.
  • Role models: Kids see real-life examples of patience, courage, kindness, and truthfulness.
  • Identity building: The stories anchor children in Islamic values, helping them grow with a strong Muslim identity.

When children connect emotionally with these stories, they don’t just “learn” about the Prophets – they love them.

Inside Unit 3: Prophets

Our Unit 3 curriculum is designed for children aged 4–7 and covers four weeks of daily lessons, activities, and crafts.

Week 1: Prophets Are Allah’s Messengers
Children learn who Prophets are, their qualities, and begin naming them.

Week 2: Prophet Nuh (AS) and the Ark
From building the boat to the animals entering in pairs, children discover the importance of patience and trust in Allah.

Week 3: Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and the Fire
This week highlights Ibrahim’s bravery and unwavering faith in only one Allah, even when others turned against him.

Week 4: Baby Musa (AS)
Children explore how Allah protected Musa (as) as a baby, teaching trust in Allah’s plan.

What Makes This Prophet of Islam Curriculum Different?

  • Hands-On Activities: Scroll crafts, Prophet cloaks, animal matching games, fire tissue crafts, and baby basket making.
  • Child-Friendly Lessons: Each day has a clear focus and simple wording designed for young learners.

Tips on teaching Prophets in Islam

  1. Drawing Reflection
💡 After sharing a Prophet’s story, ask your child to draw one thing that stood out — like the ark, the fire, or a basket. Then let them explain their drawing back to you. This helps them process the lesson in their own words.
  2. Values Connection
💡 Link the Prophet’s story to your child’s daily life. For example: “Prophet Nuh (AS) kept trying even when people laughed at him. Can you think of a time you kept going even when something was hard?
  3. Story Sequencing
💡 Print out or draw 3-4 simple pictures from the story (like an ark, animals in pairs, rain falling). Let your child put them in order — sequencing helps them remember the story flow.
